In the frame of the “OPTIMA Iter Lichenologicum” initiative, the Young Biologists Association NGO (www.yba.am) and Organization for the Phyto-Taxonomic Investigation of the Mediterranean Area (OPTIMA) organized an international lichenological excursion to Armenia.The aim was to study the lichen diversity of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve and other areas in Armenia.
11 participants from Iran, Germany, Spain, Netherlands and USA participated in field studies of lichen diversity of Armenia. The participants visited various localities including temperate and open forests rocky habitats, as well as cultural sites and other interesting places. The young scientists school on lichenology was also organized.
