The Lichen of the Year 2020 is Peltigera praetextata (Flörke ex Sommerf.) Zopf
On 22 of May 2020, in the frame of “Biodiversity of the Year 2020″ public campaign, the Peltigera praetextata is announced as a lichen of the year. More than 200 people participated in online public voting and voted for Ramalina farinacea, Flavoparmelia caperata and Peltigera praetextata.
The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB). The “Biodiversity of the Year 2020″ public campaign is aimed to raise public awareness on biodiversity conservation in Armenia.
