Informational signboards in the “Dilijan” National Park
On 1st of October, the “Young Biologists Association” NGO in cooperation with “Dilijan” National Park, posted several informational signboards in surroundings of 5 ecotourism trails. The signboards will provide an opportunity for the visitors to get an information about epiphytic lichens and their host tree biodiversity.

IAL 8th Lichenological Symposium in Helsinki
On 1-6 August 2016, the IAL 8th Lichenological Symposium took place in Helsinki, Finland. Armenia has also been presented via poster presentation by lichenologist Arsen Gasparyan.

Two new lichen species from Armenia
Two new lichen species Megaspora cretacea and Verrucaria juglandis have been described from Armenia. The scientific papers about this two species have already been published.

On 11 of July, 2016, the public discussion and presentation on topic “Registration of the proposed epiphytic lichens in the Red Book of RA” has been organized in the Institute of Botany NAS RA.

The Lichen of the Year 2015 has been announced
The Lichen of the Year 2015 in Armenia is Peltigera praetextata (Flörke ex Sommerf.) Zopf. On 22 of May 2015, in the frame of “Biodiversity of the Year 2015″ public campaign, the Peltigera praetextata is announced as a lichen of the year. More than 200 people participated in online public voting and voted for Ramalina farinacea, Flavoparmelia caperata and Peltigera praetextata.

Training on Lichen Ecology and Identification in Sweden
On May 4-8 2015, the training course “Training on Lichens and Identification took place in Ekenäs, Sweden. More than 18 participants from 10 countries (including Arsen Gasparyan – participant from Armenia) participated in the course. International Lichenological Excursion to Armenia
[:en] In the frame of the “OPTIMA Iter Lichenologicum” initiative, the Young Biologists Association NGO (www.yba.am) and Organization for the Phyto-Taxonomic Investigation of the Mediterranean Area (OPTIMA) organized an international lichenological excursion to Armenia.The aim was to study the lichen diversity of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve and other areas in Armenia.
