On 1-6 August 2016, the IAL 8th Lichenological Symposium took place in Helsinki, Finland. Armenia has also been presented via poster presentation by lichenologist Arsen Gasparyan.
Particularly, he presented lichen diversity conservation issues in Armenia and proposed epiphytic lichen species for inclusion in the Red Book of the Republic of Armenia.
