📚 The visit was carried out within the framework of the project “Development of Lichenological Research and Capacity Building in Armenia” (23LCG-1F007), funded by the Committee of Higher Education and Science.
The studies, which were launched last year, are being conducted in two main directions.
📌 Naira Sargsyan is studying the ecology of lichens found on the khachkars of the Noratus community in the Gegharkunik Province, assessing lichen species diversity and their distribution on the surface of the khachkars.
📍 Mariam Gevorgyan is conducting research on lichens growing in the areas adjacent to Mount Aragats, evaluating how the photobiont of species changes at different altitudes.
👥️ The work, coordinated by the head of the research group Arsen Gasparyan and professors Pier Luigi Nimis and Lucia Muggia of the University of Trieste, will be presented in the near future in the form of scientific articles.
