Mariam Gevorgyan, a member of the Scientific Group for Lichen Research and Conservation, underwent advanced training at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin) from April 1 to 21, 2025.

She is one of the beneficiaries of the “Young Scientists Training Abroad” competition announced within the framework of the 2024 “Young Scientists Support Program” funded by the RA Committee of Higher Education and Science.

Through this training program, under the direct supervision of lichenologist Professor Robert Lücking of Freie Universität Berlin, Mariam Gevorgyan had the opportunity to become acquainted with the institute’s molecular laboratory and to participate in laboratory research activities. In addition, in collaboration with Dr. Bibiana Moncada, lichenologist at the institute, she gained new experience in lichen research using thin-layer chromatography.

We thank the Young Scientists Support Program for providing this opportunity, as well as Professors Robert Lücking and Bibiana Moncada for their support, efforts, and effective cooperation.

We would also like to note that the collaboration between the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin and the Scientific Group for Lichen Research and Conservation of the A. Takhtajyan Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia is ongoing, and the experience gained during this training will play an important role in future scientific achievements and continued progress.
